30 OCTOBER 2025

Stockholm Film Festival 2025

November in Stockholm has its own kind of magic. The light fades early, the air turns crisp, and the city seems to lean a little closer toward the glow of screens. From November 5 to 16, 2025, that glow belongs to the Stockholm International Film Festival—twelve days when the city becomes a world stage for cinema.

The festival celebrates its 35th edition this year, and as always, it’s not just about premieres and red carpets. It’s about gathering in dark rooms with strangers, holding your breath at the same moment, laughing in sync, or walking out after the credits with a head full of images you’ll remember for weeks.

And the truth is—the festival spirit lasts all year. In April, the Stockholm Film Festival Junior gives kids and teenagers free screenings, creative workshops, and a chance to see stories from all over the world. In June, the big screen moves outdoors at Solvalla Drive-In Cinema, where families roll up in cars or on bikes, tuning in by radio to enjoy films under the summer sky. Then in August, the beloved Sommarbio takes over Rålambshovsparken, filling “Rålis” with blankets, laughter, and the smell of popcorn during five nights of free movies under the stars.

Lasagna on the Big (and Small) Screen

Movies and food have always belonged together. Some dishes slip into cinema as background, others steal the scene. And lasagna? It’s had its share of starring roles.

Think of Garfield, the world’s most famous lasagna-lover. His entire character is built around sarcasm, naps, and a bottomless craving for layered pasta, ragù, and cheese. Lasagna isn’t just a dish in Garfield’s universe—it’s comfort, joy, and identity.

Or remember Friends, Season 1, Episode 12—“The One with the Dozen Lasagnas.” Monica makes twelve giant trays for her aunt, only to discover they were supposed to be vegetarian. Suddenly the kitchen is overflowing with lasagna, and in true sitcom style, it becomes a running gag and a plot device. Food turns into story, and lasagna becomes both the problem and the punchline.

The Magic of Watching at Home

Of course, not every great film moment happens in a theatre or a park. Sometimes the best screenings happen right at home. The lights are low, the couch is warm, and the film is already playing. Then there’s a knock at the door: a steaming hot lasagna from Lasagnariet has arrived.

It’s not just dinner anymore—it’s part of the movie. A bite of layered comfort, a sip of wine, a favorite scene rolling on the screen. That’s when the evening shifts from ordinary to extraordinary. That’s when the moment gets magic.

Layers of Stories, Layers of Flavor

The Stockholm Film Festival 2025 promises world-class cinema and unforgettable experiences, but whether you’re under the stars in Rålambshovsparken, in a dark theatre, or curled up at home with a lasagna on your lap, the essence is the same: stories layered on stories.

Because just like a good lasagna, cinema is about layers—flavors of life, culture, laughter, and memory stacked together until something greater emerges.

And that’s why this November, we’re as excited about the films as we are about the food that will go with them.

Ciao, Lasagnariet.
